Songs of Freedom:Poems from a Healing Odyssey

When David Vendetti, Mary's friend and body worker, told her to go home and write a beautiful poem after a holotropic breath work session with his yoga teacher trainees at South Boston Yoga, Mary had no idea that she was about to write her third book of inspirational poetry. She penned the poem "A Song of Freedom" inspired by the breath work session and her budding yoga practice. Out of that poem, her soul gave birth to "Songs of Freedom:Poems from a Healing Odyssey."

As a survivor of paralytic polio and trauma, Mary has been on a healing quest to leave behind the beliefs about herself and the world around her which arose from a childhood fraught with violence and chaos. In “Songs of Freedom:Poems from a Healing Odyssey”, Mary takes the reader on her odyssey with  poems inspired by her yoga practice and KMI Bodywork as she finds her way home out of the muck and mire of trauma to a place in her soul of love, light, happiness, peace and freedom.

Five Star Reviews:

" I have known Mary for a short while and have read many of her poems. She represents the pioneer in all of us; moving into new territory; defying fear of the unknown; courage to leave harmful yet intractable habits. Her poems deliver her voice to us all to move toward our own light. I value her companionship as I move on my own path and touch lovingly with her journey." - M. Giella

"Mary McManus has written such a wonderful book. It is not only inspiring but moving. She has divided the book into sections in which they take you through her journey of transformation and healing! The journey of tribulations and all the way to the Breath of Fresh air. I highly recommend this book for individuals wanting inspiration, forgiveness, love, courage or the path to a new light. I very much enjoy this book and read 1 poem every night before bed! It should receive more than 5 stars!"- Dr. Judy Staveley
